History :

  • Phil Rottman purchased his first registered Hereford heifer in 1962.
  • Phil and Chris Rottman have been breeding Polled Herefords in Fremont since 1973.

Management:

  • Total Performance breeder.
  • Ultrasound data collected annually.
  • Cow herd averages about 25 - 30 breeding age females.
  • Rotational pasture in summer, and only dry hay in the winter.
  • Retained bulls and heifer calves do not get creep feed.
  • 100% of all females were bred here.
  • Cows must be 'easy keepers' and have great udders.
  • Sell 5-10 breeding bulls annually.
  • Sell females private treaty - see 'Females for Sale'  page.

Thanks to the Michigan Cattlemens Association for awarding us the "2010 Purebred Breeder of the Year"

Philosophy:

  • Our pasture is our 'showring'.
  • Good breedin' !  not just fittin' and feedin' !

Mission:

Our sole reason in breeding Registered Polled Herefords is to produce 'industry /  breed improving' bulls!
